Well renowed violonist Bujor Prelipcean completed his studies first in Galaţi, under the coordination of the famous professor S. Nachmanovici, following the Conservatory George Enescu from Iaşi, with the eminent pedagogue Gheorghe Sârbu. Gifted with an exceptional talent and an enormous power of work, Bujor Prelipcean has fully proved that the advices of George Enescu permanently given to youngsters were true – „Self knowledge, work and self-control shall constitute fundamental principles in art, as in life”. As a result, today, due to the success he has accumulated in his university and artistic career, Bujor Prelipcean can be nominated as one of the most outstanding musical personality of Romania.

Due to the fact that he has promoted as head of promotion at a national level, when he graduated the University in 1972 he was offered a job as a university assistant for the interpretation cathedra of the George Enescu Conservatory from Iaşi.

Even from his student years, Bujor Prelipcean has proven an obvious passion for the soloistic activity, together with the chamber one, participating to numerous recitals and concerts as a performer at national level and abroad. In the spring of 1973 he becomes the founder of the Voces String Quartet. The Voces Quartet participated at numerous courses in Romania and abroad, working in Romania under the coordination of maestro Wilhelm Georg Berger, and abroad with professors Friederich von Hausegger, Uzi Wiesel, Vilmos Tatray, Amedeo Baldovino and with the members of the Amadeus Quartet, managing in this way to create the oldest and the most valuable string quartet from the musical history of Romania, achieving at this point three decades of high artistic attire.

As a leader of the Voces Quartet, but also outside the chamber activity, Bujor Prelipcean sustained numerous soloistic pages of a high interpretative and technical difficulty that confirmed his quality of an authentic artist.

During the years he collaborated with big personalities of the international music, such as: Martin Lovett, Mstislav Rostropovici, Wolfgang Laufer, Radu Aldulescu, Valentin Gheorghiu, Ştefan Metz, Luz Leskowitz, Cvartetul Fine Arts (USA), Grigori Jîslin, Menahen Pressler, Karl Leister, Walther Seyfarth, Jeremy Menuhin, etc.

His rich artistic activity was rewarded with numerous distinctions, from which we name a few, selectively: the title of Honorary Citizen of the Municipality of Iasi, Honorary Diploma from the International Festival George Enescu, Bucharest 1998 and the National Order for Merits, for special merits in promoting the Romanian culture in the country and abroad.

Apart from his interpretative activity, Bujor Prelipcean also possesses a rich pedagogical history: professor at the University of Arts George Enescu from Iaşi, honorary professor at the Musical Academy Gh. Dima from Cluj-Napoca and honorary professor at the musical Academy from Wurzburg, Germany, He led also masterclasses at the Royal Dutch Academy of Quartet from Amsterdam.

In his quality of a marking personality in the Romanian and international musical stage, Bujor Prelipcean has fulfill along the years diverse public functions, among which the one of General Director of the Moldova Philharmonic from Iaşi, between 1984 and 1988 and again from 1999 until present.
